About Us
The Carver Center for Agriculture & Nutrition is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, research-driven initiative focused on affordability, access, and sound nutrition for all Americans. We work at the intersection of policy and public understanding, applying rigorous analysis to complex issues shaping the modern food system.
Our mission is to keep food decisions connected to real life – the plate, the grocery cart, the restaurant bill, and the meals families share at home. Drawing on the expertise of scientists, scholars, practitioners, and community leaders engaged across the food system, the Carver Center examines how choices across government, business, and society affect families, communities, and the nation’s strength.
The Carver Center community values engagement across the entire food system. This is especially important when claims and studies are used to justify policies that raise costs, limit choice and availability, or fragment regulation. Where public narratives diverge from the evidentiary record, the Carver Center engages in corrective research to clarify methods, context, and consequences.
Our work is designed to be judged on evidence, data, methods, and conclusions. Many of our publications appear under the Carver Center name rather than individual authors, reflecting a commitment to collaborative review, collective expertise, and analytical consistency. Inspired by the work of George Washington Carver, the Carver Center is guided by his enduring belief in innovation and progress.
The Carver Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
